April 9, 2009

For today's prompt, I want you write a poem about a memory. The memory can be good or bad. The memory can be a blend of several memories. I suppose it could even be a memory that you're not sure you remember correctly. Take your time finding a good one (or good ones).

Sunday night
End of a "family day"
She had cooked all morning for her kids
And their broods.

Family Dinner on Sunday Noon
A Tradition
Good Food
Hell - it was the best.

She knew how to cook
My grandmother.

Now the day is over
everyone has gone to their separate homes
all caught up on everything.

My grandmother,
the purple hair -somewhat disheveled
Fringed gray shawl with red stripes
wrapped around her shoulders
ready for bed
Comes to the living room
settles in her wooden rocker
to watch "What's My Line."

Warm, comforting
family time in front of the tube

It never got any better than that!
